About Alexis

Alexis has spent 16 years working with children, educators, and school teams across northern New England. Her career has included roles in public schools, specialized educational settings, district-level behavioral leadership, and school-based behavioral consultation.

She began her career as an elementary educator at a small residential school in New Hampshire serving neurodiverse students who had not found success in traditional educational settings. She later worked in a therapeutic day-treatment program in Maine, supporting children with significant behavioral and emotional needs.

After returning to Vermont, Alexis served as the Behavior Support Coordinator in a small rural PK–12 school, working directly with students and school teams across grade levels. She later became a district-level Coordinator of Behavior Support Services, supporting multiple rural schools across Vermont’s Northeast Kingdom.

For the past five years, her work has increasingly focused on consultation. She has provided behavior-analytic services to public schools throughout New Hampshire’s North Country, working alongside educators and administrators to understand complex student behavior, conduct functional behavior assessments, develop practical interventions, analyze behavioral data, and support implementation in real classrooms.

Today, through Northwoods Behavior Consulting, Alexis provides independent school-based behavioral consultation throughout Vermont’s Northeast Kingdom and New Hampshire’s North Country.

School-based behavior support needs to work within the complexity of the school day: instruction, transitions, staffing, relationships, and the needs of the wider classroom. Northwoods brings that context into assessment, intervention planning, and implementation support.

That breadth of school-based experience informs consultation that is practical, collaborative, and responsive to the realities educators face. Recommendations are designed not only to reflect behavioral science, but to work in real classrooms with the people responsible for carrying them forward.

Rural schools often navigate limited access to specialized services, staffing constraints, long travel distances, and close community relationships. Effective consultation must account for those realities while remaining responsive to the individual student, family, and school team.

Local knowledge is a starting point for listening—not a set of assumptions. Northwoods works alongside educators and families to develop support that fits the student and can be sustained by the school community.

Understanding before intervention

The practice centers on comprehensive Functional Behavior Assessment, individualized intervention, and ongoing collaboration with the people implementing the plan. The goal is a shared understanding that leads to practical, responsive support.
