About Northwoods
Deep school experience. A thoughtful behavioral perspective.
Northwoods Behavior Consulting is led by Alexis Izzo, a Board Certified Behavior Analyst with 16 years of experience in Vermont and New Hampshire schools.
Expertise grounded in real schools
School-based behavior support needs to work within the complexity of the school day: instruction, transitions, staffing, relationships, and the needs of the wider classroom. Northwoods brings that context into assessment, intervention planning, and implementation support.
Rooted in the communities this work serves
Vermont’s Northeast Kingdom and New Hampshire’s North Country are more than a service area. Their schools and communities have distinct strengths, relationships, and challenges. Effective consultation requires understanding the place as well as the student.
Alexis brings deep, place-based knowledge of the region’s schools and the people they serve. That understanding shapes recommendations that account for rural distances, access to specialized services, staffing realities, and the relationships that sustain small school communities.
Local knowledge is a starting point for listening—not a set of assumptions about a family or a school. Northwoods builds on each community’s strengths and works alongside its educators and families to develop support that fits.
Understanding before intervention
The practice centers on comprehensive Functional Behavior Assessment, individualized intervention, and ongoing collaboration with the people implementing the plan. The goal is a shared understanding that leads to practical, responsive support.
