Comprehensive Functional Behavior Assessment
Individualized FBA for severe, persistent, or complex behavior. Assessment brings together records, interviews, direct observation, and analysis of patterns across relevant settings and routines.
Services
Understand the student. Build an individualized plan. Support the people putting it into practice. Refine the approach as the student’s needs change.
Start with a comprehensive picture of the student, the environment, and the supports already in place. Assessment helps the team move from reacting to incidents toward a shared understanding of needs.
Explore comprehensive FBAIndividualized FBA for severe, persistent, or complex behavior. Assessment brings together records, interviews, direct observation, and analysis of patterns across relevant settings and routines.
Review existing assessments, behavior data, educational history, and previous interventions to identify patterns, unanswered questions, and possible reasons support has not been effective.
Bring educator and caregiver perspectives together with observations of instruction, communication, routines, and the student’s experience to clarify priorities for support.
Translate assessment findings into a practical plan that addresses the function of behavior, teaches useful skills, and fits the realities of the school day.
Complex behavior & placement supportDevelop individualized, function-based Behavior Intervention Plans with clear prevention strategies, skill-teaching approaches, reinforcement, and staff responses.
Identify adjustments to routines, task demands, transitions, communication supports, and opportunities for choice that can improve access and participation.
Help the school team clarify goals, staff responsibilities, and how progress will be measured. Bring behavioral expertise to discussions about programming, adult support, and placement needs.
A written plan is only useful when the people implementing it understand it and have support putting it into practice. Consultation continues beyond the report.
Trauma-informed practiceHelp educators and support staff understand the rationale for the plan, what to teach, and how to respond consistently. Coaching focuses on the student’s actual school routines.
Work with the team to put strategies into practice, address practical barriers, and adapt implementation to schedules, staffing, and classroom demands.
Examine whether the plan is being used as intended and where staff need clarification or additional support. Distinguish implementation barriers from a need to change the intervention itself.
Review progress, learn from what is and is not working, and revise support as needs change. The goal is meaningful improvement in participation, skills, and the student’s school experience.
Prepare for a consultationReview behavior patterns alongside skill development, participation, and implementation information so the team can judge whether support is making a meaningful difference.
Adjust strategies, teaching priorities, and supports in response to data, team feedback, and the student’s changing needs. Revisit assessment questions when new patterns emerge.
Support continued problem-solving and planning so the team has a process for reviewing progress and maintaining effective support over time.
The starting point and scope of consultation depend on the school’s needs and the information already available. We will discuss which services are appropriate and how assessment, planning, implementation support, and follow-up fit together.
Safety, dignity, autonomy, and collaboration inform every stage—not just a separate service.
Northwoods charges an hourly rate for all service hours. Your school pays for the time used—not a large annual service package. Access specialized behavioral expertise without committing to a year-long service contract.
That might mean a focused consultation, a comprehensive FBA, staff coaching, or continued support as a plan takes shape. The level of involvement can grow or scale back with your school’s needs, with the same hourly approach across assessment, planning, meetings, and implementation support.
We discuss the hourly rate and agree on the work together before getting started. You choose the support your team needs, and pay for the service hours you use.
